Llanfairfechan

(see also: Bangor)

The quiet, unspoilt resort of Llanfairfechan offers a superb blend of seashore and countryside. The sandy beach is backed by some of the most spectacular and remote mountain country in Wales.

The rugged countryside provides endless opportunities for mountaineering, riding and walking. Llanfairfechan is also popular with birdwatchers who come to view the rich variety of waders and wildfowl which can be seen on the Traeth Lafan Local Nature Reserve. The reserve includes the beach at Llanfairfechan and a large area of mud flats stretching westwards as far as Bangor. There are bird hides and a picnic area at Morfa Madryn, about a mile west of the promenade - a lovely walk along the coast in its own right.
